The historic desert town on the edge of the Sahara, with an ancient Jewish kasbah, palm-shaded oases and the gateway routes to M'Hamid and Erg Chegaga.
Zagora marks the point where the Drâa Valley gives way to true desert. The town itself holds an old Jewish kasbah worth a wander, along with a souk and library, but its real role is as a launch point — the last significant town before the routes fan out toward Tamegroute, M'Hamid and the dunes of Erg Chegaga.
Just outside town, palm-grove retreats such as Oasis Tilogui offer a quieter, slower alternative to pushing straight on to the desert — a place to rest beside the palms before or after the piste.
