Todra Gorges

A dramatic limestone canyon near Tinghir, its sheer walls rising up to 300 metres above the riverbed — one of Morocco's finest natural spectacles.

Near the town of Tinghir, the Todra River has carved a narrow limestone canyon whose walls climb as high as 300 metres on either side. A gentle, roughly one-hour walk along the riverbed is enough to take in the full scale of it — a favourite stop for photographers and one of the most striking natural sights in the Atlas.

Todra pairs naturally with the nearby Dadès Gorges, and the two are often visited together as a loop on circuits heading toward, or returning from, Merzouga and the Sahara.
